Owing to the heavy advertising demands made upon this issue we are compelled to hold over a number of interesting reports.

Mrs Pilbrow has sold the Aroha Dining Rooms to Mr M. Fraser, of Wellington, who will take possession on Tuesday next. Mrs Pilbrow will leave shortly on a holiday visit to the Thames, but intends returning to reside in Te Aroha.

Mr C. E. Christensen, local Tourist Agent, favours us with the following: October 1923—Rain fell on 19 days; maximum rainfall in any 24 hours 0.95 on the 6th; total rainfall 4.45. October 1922 —Rain fell on 15 days; maximum rainfall in any 24 hours 0.52 on the 13th; total rainfall 3.03.

The annual Rose Show and Bazaar of St. Mark’s Ladies’ Guild will take place in the Parish Hall next Thursday, November Bth, commencing at 1 p.m. There will be the usual stalls, in addition to the exhibition of the queen of flowers. Exhibitors are reminded that entries for the Rose Show must be at the hall by 11 a.m.

Attention is called to an extraordinary general meeting of the Te Aroha Chamber of Commerce which is to be held in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday week, November 12. It is to be hoped that there will be a large attendance of business men as the future of the work of the Chamber is a matter that vitally concerns them and the town.

Rates outstanding in . the Elstow Drainage District since 1922, and in one or two cases since 1921, are as follows: —Ngutumanga area, general rate £32/19/10, special rate £ls/14/6; Central area, general rate £lO4/6/4, special rate £69/10/4; Westerli area, general rate, £2O/15/10, special rate £l9/18/7; Eastern area, general rate £l2/15/6, special rate £34/0/9; Waihou area, general rate £2/19/9, special rate £5/19/5. Total, general rate £173/17/3, special rate £IBO/3/7. On the motion of Mr Stewart it was decided at Friday’s meeting of the Board to instruct the solicitor to proceed with the action necessary to recover these rates.
