VALEDICTORY

On Wednesday afternoon last, at the home of their president, the members of the Te Aroha Ladies’ Benevolent Society gave a farewell tea to Mrs Lawless, who was one of the founders of the Society. In making a presentation of a handsome suede handbag subscribed for among the members, the president referred to the many charitable activities of the guest of honor. Especial reference was made to the work of Mrs Lawless during the epidemic of 1918. Much appreciation was expressed for the numerous acts of charity , and benevolence which have characterised her life in Te Aroha. A suitable inscription with the names of the donors accompanied the handbag.
