THE CUSTOMS AND TRADE DISCOUNTS. Dunedin, Dec. 7.
A jiketin'u of importers, at i which the lead, ing Dunedin firms were represented, was held this afternoon to consider the recent decision of tho Commissioner of Customs to disallow the deduction of trade discounts trom home invoices in estimating values of goods for entries. After rti&cu&sion of the proposal, it was resolved, unanimously, "That in the event ot tho Customs insi&tj my on carrying out the decision mentioned, the iirms represented at this meeting would contest the claim at law." It was further resolved, "That an effort should be made I to have an interview with the Premier on hib leturn to-Dnnedin lor the purpose of laying before him tho importers' objections to the Oonimi&sioner'fc decision, and also the recent appointment of Mr Shannon fis Customs referee."'
