Only a little, lii tie stone, Half hidden by the waving gra&s ; The winds, with murmuring monotone, Caress it gently as they pass ; And o'er it, all the summer day, Tno drifting lights ami shadows play. The broken sunbeams tremblingly S'.cal solely on with f/ilent touch, And quiver o'er those letters three That tell so little, yet so much ; That, with their simple, nameless art, btir the deep tear-founts of the heart. And ■"•c can see, as in a dieam, But halE-reniemburcd, half-torgol, The rising of Death's chill, dark stream. The place that knew you, knowing not, The tears ot blood, tho hopeioss pain, The two void hearts ne er tilled again. Of tho&o who laid you there at rest 'Noath the dim shadow of the bough, With tears rained on your baby breabt And kisses on your baby brow— The quenchless longinu, but tor this, One word ol love, one living kiss. You lived, you loved, were loved again Nor ever knew a doubt, a tear ; And your white days without a stain Internally are garnered here. What matters time to us of dust if lite be whole with love and trust ? Yes, well for you, in your repose ; Sleep soitly, baby Ada, sleep ; Or soon or late 'twill come to those, To all who wept, to all who weep, To all who hunger but to press !
