Another Jersey Record.

As showing what well-bred Jerseys can do without special feeding to make a sensational yield we pi hit the following com munication to the Live Stock Journal from Messrs Pocock and Co., a firm of London dairymen : — As importers of Jersey cows, allow us to add our experience of Islandbred Jereeys. We havo a heifer which calved in December la.st, first calf ; last week she gave 06 qaarts of milk, which yielded S quarts of crcdvn, pix hours sotting, and, of course, only one skimming. Wo would add that, for the purposes of our retail trade, we have to milk at five o'clock in the morning and one o'clock mid-day— six teen hours and eight hours respectively. We had intended churning this 8 quarts of cream, but, at the last moment, we had an order come in, and were obliged to sell 1 quart of the cream, leaving us 7 quarts to churn. This yielded no le?s than 81b. 14oz. of splendid butter ; had the 8 quarts been churned it would, on the above results, have yielded 162-28 oz. of butter. This bears out what H. states in his letter, which appeared in your last i&j>ue, that for reliable information the churn must be appealed to. We would add that in the pievious week 13 pints of cream from the milk of six heifers yielded 7-r lb. butter, and previous to that 14 quarts cream yielded Ib'ib. 3oz. of butter. All this was six hours 1 cream, and all the animal^ heifers with fiist calf, Island-bred pedigree stock. We should be glad to hear of any English -bred Jciscys giving better results. o
