At a special meeting of the above Board, held on Tuesday last, the General Purposes Committee reported as follows : — " With respect to the advertisement of the Ohinemuri County Council that they intend to apply to be constituted aßiverßoard, with jurisdiction over certain rivers flowing into the Thames Harbour. The committee recommend that the member for Thames be written to and asked to bring this matter before the Honorable the Minister of Marine Department, as this Harbour Board alone should have control of all livers whose mouths empty into the harbour. The great mopes of debris from drains cut by settlers, the saw-dust from the sawmills, and the snags from the trees cut down by the sawmill owners,

all find their way into the Thames Harbour, causing the Board great expense in removing snags and debris from its channels, and in contending with the debris washed from the drains, and tl o saw-dußt and chips from the mills, which gradually wash down find foim large banks and shallows in the harbour. Already complaints are made to the Board that theso forming banks of sawdust are drivingfcertain kinds of fish out of the fishing grounds in which they formerly were abundant. In view of the above the committee suggest that the member fcr Thames and Mr Cadman should at once be communicated with."— Advertiser.
