THOMPSON'S TRACK ROAD.
At the last meeting of Tauranga County Council, a telegram was read from the Treasury Department, Wellington, stating that £300 has been placed to credit of the Council on account of Thompson's Track. * With reference to this track the Chairman said he had lately been to Te Aroha, and was informed on good authority that if a coach road were made via Thompson's Track, three coaches could be filled weekly from Te Aroha to Tauranga and in the summer probably one a day. The Chairman was authorised to communicute with Piako County Council, and with the Chairman of any other local bodies interested, urging that endeavours be made to get a vote passed this session for the formation of a coach road via Thompson's Track. The Engineer in his monthly report alluding; to Thompson's Track, said that he intended running the line up the valley of th^ Waitakohe river, aud he would be able to thus get a grade on the Katikati side of 1 in
It was resolved that the Chairman be authorised to communicate with Government asking permission for the Engineer to form a bridlo track along Thompson's Track under an '"experienced 1 ganger at once.
