In connection with the North Shore "as strike, the arbitrator decided that the punishment inflicted be the dismissal of a man was unjust. ENEMY SUBJECTS. • SYDNEY. This Day. A meeting of Metropolitan branches of the Political Labour League resolved to ask the Federal and State Governments that all enemy subjects be immediately removed from the Federal and State and municipal services, and their property confiscated and utilised for the upkeep of their dependents; also that enemy subjects be politi eally disfranchised forthwith.
A MINING TROUBLE. SYDNEY, This Day. A mass meeting of the Amalgamated Miners’ Association, at Broken Hill, rejected the proposal to hold a referendum on the question of the 44 hours* week. The meeting voted that, underground men should finish on Saturdays at 4 o’clock. HOTEL-CLOSING. SYDNEY, This Day. The Temperance Alliance propose tourge the introduction of legislation giving effect to the Assembly’s resolution in favour of clbsing hotels at 0 o’clock, and provide for a referendum at the next general elections on the subject of G o’clock closing. The Anti-Alien League is petitioning ihe Government to intern all enemy subjects, naturalised or unnaturalised, and prohibit their holding Crown positions, or to trade under titles concealing their identity.
