THE SOCIAL ROUND

The Anzac Ball, (o bo held to morrow evening in the Tea Kiosk at the Metropolitan Trotting Grounds, promises to eclipse all its predecessors in size and success. The weather, fortunately, seems to have quite settled for the time being, which is a big factor in the ball's favour.

A very jolly evening was spent by the pupils of the Boys' High School at the hostel recently, when the annual dance was held. The common room was arranged for dancing, and was prettily decorated by the boys with greenery and wattle. A tempting supper was served in the dining-room, which was arranged as a lounge, and which was tastefully decorated in the school colours.

The High School-Old Girls' Association will hold its annual dance in the Art Gallery on September 8, and an enjoyable evening is anticipated. The committee having in hand the arrangements are: Mrs 11. J. Quarrel!, Misses M. James, M. Powell, P. Archer, S. Dorman and W. Robertson. The chaperons will be the Mayoress (Mrs 11. T. J. At one end of the hall the name of the club appeared, effectively worked out in green and gold. From the ceiling depended baskets of wattle, the baskets themselves being draped with green and gold, streamers of the same being carried across the room. Mrs 11. S.
