In addition to the previously reported - increases, the Victoria Racing * Club I)H!i further increased its prize-money for the ' current season by £O2OO. The Australian Cup is now worth £300(1 - the Essendon, C. M. Lloyd, Linlithgow, and . Melbourne Stakes, and the King's and Fishei Plates each 115110: the Standish and Bagnl Handicaps, each £1000; and the National , Hurdles £1750. The prizes of many of tin i smaller events have also been increased The distance of the Essendon Stakes ha< been Increased to a mile and a-half.
