BIG BULLOCKS.

AN INTERESTING CONTEST. DIXON BEOS. WIN CHALLENGE. A big crowd of interested spectators followed the two champion bullocks to the City Council yards this morning, when they were placed upon the weighbridge. Dixon Bros, issued a challenge to the party of showmen exhibiting a big roan bullock to the public, to a contest with their big red animal, which was purchased for £204 at the Addington Saleyards at the double market preceding National Week. The showmen promptly accepted the challenge; and the weighing was conducted •this morning, the Town Clerk (Mr H. R. Smith) supervising. Dixon Bros.' animal was placed upon the scales first, but failed to quite reach the big figure —3os6lb—which he weighed on the sale day. The effect of being moved, and the change of food and environment naturally affected both animals.

Dixon Bros.' bullock emerged the victor from the contest, weighing 1101b heavier than the show bullock. The winner sealed close upon 30001b, live weight. A kinematograph picture of the two bullocks proceeding to the weighbridge was taken this afternoon.

The showmen 's animal loses little in comparison with the other beast in measurements, and the effect of having it on show for some weeks is no .doubt responsible for a substantial loss in weight.

Upon the figures registered at the weighbridge this morning, both animals would dress at over 20001b, eclipsing the record established by the bullock to which the cable below refers.
