» REQUEST FOR SUBSIDY. Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 12. Help for the development of oil-boring in the Hawke 's Bay province was sought by a deputation to the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey). The deputation comprised Messrs Mitchell (chairman of directors), Redpath and Andrews, representing the Waipatiki Oil Wells Co. They asked for a geological report, and also a subsidy. The bore at the wells is now down 3660 feet. There has been no trouble with water. Mr Massey promised to send an officer of the Geological Survey Department to report, and to place the matter of a subsidy before Parliament.
