REPATRIATION BOARD.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING. Ths Canterbury District Repatriation Board met yesterday, when there were present:—Messrs A. W. Jamieson (chairman), P. Davidson, J. A. Clarke, F. T. Eldridge, W. E. Eeadley, H. S. J. Goodman, A. F. Drayton, F. W. Hobhs and N. R. McCallum, ii ~..0 reported that 34 applications had been received for grants for furniture. Three had been held over and 31 granted. Of 14 applications for sustenance, one was declined. o "■■•/. r fnnl«, Tt-ncl"s and Equipment Committee reported that 15 applications for i. uiiici. ...id been received. Twelve were recommended, two held over and one declined. The report of the Employment Committee was to the effect that i") fresh applications had bceu received and 52 men placed in employment, leaving 29 men on the unemployed register. Several partially-trained motor mechanics had been found employment. The Assistant Repatriation Officer reported that there had been 30 applications for assistance in vocational training. Four were declined. Assistance in transportation had been given to 17 men. The reports were adopted.
