FIRE AT A HOSPITAL.
ENCHNE-ROOM DESTROYED. Prrt» , A'pociation. BLENHEIM, August 1?. At an oarly hour this morning an alarm of tiic was given by the watchman at tho Wairau Hospital, who had discovered an outbreak in the roof of the laundry and engine-room, a large and up-to-date- new building. There was no lire fighting apparatus available, but the staff saved what was moveable. The building was completely gutted. The machinery, which includes an electric plant, Mas badly damaged. The insurances were £4sop in the Royal Exchange, Office, The buildings and plant were valued at £9OOO.
