REPATRIATION BOARD.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING. The Canterbury District Repatriation Board met yesterday, when there were present:—Messrs A. \V. Jamicson (chairman), P. Davidson, 3. A. Clarke, F. T. F.ldridgc. W. E. I.<'iulley, 11. S. J. Goodman, A. F. Drayton, F. W. Hobbs and N. K. McCallum. ■ l reported that 3-1 applications bad been received for grants i'or furniture. Three had been held over and 31 granted. Of 14 applications for sustenance, one was declined. ""•" T<»>K anil Equipment Committee reported that 15 applications for ...in-. .~n Deen received. Twelve were recommended, two held over and one declined. The report of the Employment Committee was to the effect that 15 fresh applications had been received and , r >2 men placed in employment, leaving 2fl men on the unemployed register. Several partially-trained motor mechanics had been found' employment. The Assistant Repatriation Officer reported that there had been :i(i applications for assistance ill vocational training. Four were declined. Assistance in transportation had been given to 17 men. The reports were adopted.
