EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

THE GUARANTEE FUND. GOVERNMENT PORTION VOTED. By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. Reuter's Telegrams. (Her. Aug. 11, f1.5) LONDON, Au«r. 9. The House of Commons adopted a resolution authorising the payment of £IOO,OOO as the Government's share of the Guarantee Fund in connection with Ihe forthcoming British Empire Exhibition. The Hon. F. G. Kellaway, in moving the resolution, said there was no better way of celebrating the great part played by the Empire in the War than by holding, in London, this exhibition of the Empire's manifold resources and the activities of its peoples. The Government's guarantee was conditional on a guarantee of £500,000 being forthcoming from private sources. There was every reason to believe that that sum would be found. It was necessary that British manufacturers should find new markets, and the greatest hope of achieving that end lay in the Empire.
