AMERICAN RESERVATIONS. By Cable. — Vress Association. — Copyright. Australian and X.'£. Cable Association. (nee. Nov. 8, 9.25) WASHINGTON, Nov. 7. Senator Hitchcock conferred with President Wilson and there is a prospect of the reservations being adopted. MORE AMENDMENTS DEFEATED. Australian and h'.Z. Cable Association. (Bee. Nov. 8, 11.40) WASHINGTON, Nor. 7. President Wilson told Senator Hitchcock that he was satisfied with anv interpretative reservations provided these did not nullify the League of Nations Covenant. Senator Hitchcock, interviewed, stated that the plan was to defeat the reservations first, and, if unable to do this, then to reject the resolutions containing them. If a deadlock ensued he would offer to compromise ■with the Republicans. The Senate, by 48 votes to 40, refused to delete the provision requiring the acceptance of reservations by other Powers. Minor amendments on similar lines were similarly defeat ed.
