Owing to the American strike iind coaling difficulties, the steamers Ruahine and Rimutaka, carrying troops and passengers to New.Zealand, have Been diverted to Cape Town instead of Panama. Ships leaving NeW Zealand are similarly coaling at Durban, where coal costs 40/- per ton, and at Cape Town, where the cost is 47/6 per ton, as compared with £7 at Monte Video on the Cape Home route. VESSELS DIVERTED:
("The Times.") LONDON, November 5. Owing to the American coal strike and consequent congestion at New York, British steamers have been diverted to Canadian ports, returning with wheat cargoes.
