THE WAR GRATUITY.

A considerable section of soldiers are opposed to Mr Hughes's proposal to pay them a gratuity in non-nego-tiable bonds. At a meeting in the Domain 4000 resolved in favour of payment in cash from the date of enlistment, and also the release of all A.I.F. prisoners, as well as a refund of all fines imposed on soldiers during the War. EXPORT OF DRIED FRUITS. (Rcc. Nov. 3, 10.45) MELBOURNE," Nov. 3. Referring to the embargo on the exportation of dried fruits, the Minister of Customs states that he hopes to permit a limited export to New Zealand, whose trade it is desired to retain. INFLUENZA ON STEAMER. (Roc. Nov. 3, 10.45) PORT DARWIN, Nov. 3. The steamer Mataram has arrived from Singapore with eight cases of influenza aboard.
