RIFLE SHOOTING.
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. The Christchurch Defence Rifle Club held their fourth short range competition nt Cashmere on Saturday, the ranges being 300, 500, and 600 yards. The competition was won by Rifleman Durford. Owing to a very choppy sou'-west wind, the scoring was not high. Results:—
The Christchurch Miniature Rifle Association held a practice at Cashmere on Saturday. The conditions were—seven shots at 100, 150 and 200 yards. Mr W. S. Wharton presided. After the toast of "The King," Mr Bevan proposed "The Navy and Army," which was responded to by Mr A. E. Tayler. Mr Dockcry proposed "The Association," and spoke of the good work done by the chairman, who suitably responded. The president presented the prizes won- in the championship meeting and winter tournament, Railway taking the Senior Cup' and New Brighton the Junior. Medals were presented to the members of the Railway Reserve No. 2 and No. 1 teams and to Mr A. E. Tayler, who won the individual championship, Messrs Harry Harries being second and C. Rutland third. Musical items were given by Messrs Neil Down, O'Grady, J. Left, W. Smythc, J. Baxter aiid Arthur Tongue. Mr B. Estall played the j accompaniments.
