After announcing his intention to contest the Riecarton seat, in the Reform interest, Mr Walter Berry has decided not to stand for the seat.

The Official Assignee, Cliristchurch, announces the bankruptcy of George Gordon Clark, motorman, of Arthur's Pass. A meeting of creditors will be held next Wednesday at 2.30 p.m. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court this morning, before Messrs J. Garrari and C. Ferrier, J.P.'s, A. McCallumand T. Norris were each fined 10/- and 7/costs for allowing horses to wander on the public roads. There were large attendances at both the afternoon and evening sessions of the Industrial Fair on Saturday. During the afternoon, Mr E. E. Stark, City Electrical Engineer, delivered an address on "Electricity and Magnetism" to a number of school children. The address was illustrated by a number of experiments, which were followed by ■he children with very great interest. During the evening Mr Stark again lectured to an interested audience. The Industrial Fair will be continued tonight and to-morrow night. The Military Sanatorium, Cashmere Hills, was visited on Saturday evening by the Liedertafel, under the conductorship of Mr Alfred Worsley. An excellent programme was rendered, and the vigorous applause of each item was an eloquent testimony of the appreciation of the audience. At the conclusion of the entertainment, the chairman (Ser-geant-Major Noonan), on behalf of the patients, tendered . a hearty vote of thanks to the visitors for the musical treat which had been given them, and expressed a wish that the institution would have the pleasure of hearing them again in the near future. The concert was arranged by Mr G. M. Silver, of the Y.M.C.A., and cars were provided for transporting the party by Messrs M. Hollander and W. Clifford. IN THE WORLD T S~CHAMPIONSHIP
