SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

OPAWA. A meeting of the Opawa School Committee was held on Monday evening, there being present—Messrs R. H. Turner (chairman), T. \Y. West (hon. secretary), T. Adams, J. Pycroft, J. Farrar, J. W. Scott, W. Trist, J. Butler, and E. J. Dennis. The headmaster's report for the mouth ending JVlay 30 showed that the roll numbers were as follow: —100 boys, 186 girls, total 376; average attendance, 175 boys, 164 girls, total 339. Messrs Adams, Farrar, and Pycroft were appointed as delegates to the Canterbury. School Committees' Association. Messrs Butler and Pycroft were appointed a works committee. The Works Committee was instructed to erect scats in the school grounds. Mr E. J. Dennis resigned his seat on the committee, as he had left the district.
