DANCE AT ASHBURTON.
A delightful danee, as a conclusion to 'the tennis season, was given by the | tenuis players of Ashburton last cvenjing, in the Orange Hall. The committee who made the arrangements were Mesi dames Montgomery, Waterson, Magson, ! Misses Black, Stevenson, Digby, Stew!art, Smith, and D. Denshire, the hall being gaily decorated with bunting, likewise crossed tennis racquets and other emblems of the game. The supper .tables were artistically arranged with ipink roses and autumn leaves, a dainty repast being served. Miss Macdonald, lof Christehurch, supplied the best of | dance music, with extras by Miss Dolierty and Mr Cowan. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames Blathwaite. Anderson, Kennedy, Boot, Orr, Mullin, Misses Wood, Denshire, Hunter, Claridge, Boddington, Leversidge, Wilkinjson, Bonnington, Messrs Montgomery, Roberts, Magson, Boot, Roberts, Lloyd, Smith, Lumley, Wilkinson (2), Gill, Mackay, Waterson, Kennedy, Digby, Orr, Blathwaite, and Seager (Christchurch).
