GARDEN FAIR.
A garden fair, for the purpose of raising funds towards the Papanui Soman Catholic Chureh Building Fund, fu held in the grounds surrounding 8t Mary's Presbyter}-. Manchester Street, on Friday and Saturday last. Tfce splendid weather and the many attractions attracted a good attendance, axl a consequent good result. Stalls were dotted about the grounds, and there were also a number of side attractions, in which great interest was takes, including a baby show, of which Dr. Thaeker was the judge. The prizes were won as follow: — Class L, eight months and under: Bona!! Kerr 1, Wilfred Hewinson 2, Bernard tiny 3, D. J. Wheelen and T. B. Bran (equal) 4. Chum 11.. 1") months and nnder: Ivv WakeieJd 1, Jacky Pope 2, Bobbie Bae 3, Kenneth Abemethy 4. Ivy Wakefield was awarded the champioaaaip and TV. Thacker's special prize. It numerous stalls were well pat■d, and included:—St. Mary's Mesdames Smith anil Evans; ts stall, children of Mary; art , Mesdaines Booney and Sisson. ace stall, Mesdaraes Heapby, maor, and Boloski. The boys of Marist Bros.' School gave several bitiotii of physical drill, and fawj stag was given by schooJ'enildren led by Miss A ■'■nn- - .
