BOWLING.
EDGEWARE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Edgeware Bowling Club was held in the pavilion last evening, Mr J. Lorimcr presiding over a iarge attendance. The annual report stated that at the close of the previous year the membership of the club numbered 70, and during the season 13 new members joined and three resigned, the membership now standing at 77, made up of 7-1 active members, two life members, and one honorary member, Mr W. L. Baker, who is stiil on active service. The club's finances were in a sound condition, there being a credit balance of £8 G/10, though no debentures had been redeemed. The club had been successful for the first time in its history in winning the Watson Challenge Shield, having won on five occasions in succession this season, the team comprising G. Compton, G. A. Salt, G. Lucas, and J. Gagliardi (s). In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the president congratulated the club on its very successful season. A number of letters were received from sons and relatives of club members, thanking the committee for the consideration shown to them in forwarding Y.M.C.A. coupons. Mr Hobbs drew attention to the rules governing the affairs of the club, which were much out of date. On his suggestion it was decided to put the present code in the melting-pot. A sub-committee, comprising Messrs G. Lucas, J. Jowscy, and J. Taylor were appointed to draft a new set of laws, which will be considered by a special general meeting to be held prior to October next. The trophies won during the season were presented as follow:—Simes Cup. H. J. West (s); Champion Pairs, E. G. Wilson (s); Champion Rink, J. Herd (s); Allard Rose Bowl, T. Jones; Dent Doubles, G. Compton (s); Champion Singles, H. J, West; Handicap Singles, J. Gagliardi. The election of officers resulted: —President, A. H. Hobbs; vice-president, P. L. Davies; committee, J. W. Beanland, G. Queree, J. Jowsey, G. Lucas, H. West, W. Pearce, .1. Lorimer; Selection Committee, J. Jowsey, G. Lucas, and J. Taylor; green superintendent, J. W. Beanland; treasurer, C. H. Bascand; secretary, G. H. Salt. A vote of thanks was accorded to the ladles who provided refreshments during the season. A tarpaulin muster for the purpose of forwarding further Y.M.C.A. coupons to rela lives of club members at the front resulted In £2 11/3 being collected.
