ART GALLERY ENTERTAINMENT.

>—■ A very bright and entertaining programme was given at the Art Gallery last evening in connection with the Red Cross effort now drawing to a close, a feature of which was the delightful contributions of Mrs McKellar, who sang musical comedy songs and told stories, and monologued at the piano in a crisp, refreshing, and quite bewitching style. She completely captivated the audience, who were loth to part with her. Her comedy items, notably "In these Hard Times,"and her snappy little stories were most highly appreciated. Her songs, '' Lady or a Thousand Charms" and "Mademoiselle Pirouette, '' were also very dainty and delightful. The Christehurch Salon Orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr Eric Bell, who arranged the programme, played some very attractive selections, including the "Merchant of Venice Suite" (Bucalassi), "Petite Suite de Concert" (Coleridge-Tavlor), and Geehl's "Legend of the "Sea." Mr Herbert Bloy, banjo soloist, was very successful in his selections, the "William Tell" overture, and a collection of rag-time melodies by way of an encore. Mrs Vernon was hostess for the occasion, and was assisted by various other depot workers. A dainty supper was served at small tables beautified with autumn foliage and flowers, the concert being resumed afterwards and continued until shortly after 10 o'clock.
