FARMERS FINED.
VARIOUS OFFENCES. [Special to The San.] ASHBURTON, April 5. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr V. G. Day, S.M., George W. Leadley (Mr Donnelly) was fined £5 for failing to clear Californian thistles. Counsel stated that there was a difficulty to get labour for the purpose. For a similar offence, W. T. Lill (Mr Buchanan) was fined £l, and Robert Holland (Mr Keunedy) £3. F. J. Saville, late owner of Mount Possession sheep run, was charged with failing to destroy rabbits. He was convicted and fined £lO. The defendant said he would appeal to the Supreme Court. For failing to clear water-races, Joseph Tully was fined 40/-.
