GENERAL SIR BEAUCHAMP DUFF. 7>j/ Cnble. — Press Associntion. — Copyright, (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, Jan. 20. General Sir Beauchamp Duff was found dead in his bed. [General Sir Beauchamp Duff, G.C.5.1., cr. 1016; G.C.8., cr. 1011; K.C.8., cr. 1907; was l)o]ii in 1855. He was educated at Trinity College, Glenalmond, and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. He entered the Army in 1871. He served in the Afghan War 1878-80, and the Waziristnn Expedition 1891-95. He was Military Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief in India 1805-99, and was Assistant Military Secretary to the War Olliee (for Indian Affairs) 1899. He served in South Africa 1809-1901 (dispatches twice, medal with five clasps, C.8.). He was Secretary to the Military Department of the India Office, 1910, and Chief of Staff in India, 1900-9. He was A.D.C. General to the King in 1914, and was Commander-in-Chief, India, 1013-16, being recalled as the outcome of the British Commission's scathing report on the negligence of high officials and generals in connexion with the Mesopotamia disaster.]
