LATE SHIPPING.
Preas A.ixncialion. WELLINGTON, March 12. Arrived—Rlveriua (1.-15 p.m.), from Sydney. The s.s. Awahon will load cargo for Wellington and Foxton on Saturday. The building of wooden vessels, which was a conspicuous feature of the industrial life of the small towns of Nova Scotia in the neighbourhood of Carrshoro during 191(1, will he. continued during 1!I17 with no less activity, writes Consul E. Verne Richardson, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, January 10. Six shipyards in the vicinity named are engaged in the construction of schooners. The Huntley yard at Parrshoro is building a 000-ton four-master. At Fox River, two schooners, each three-masters, of 430 and 400 tons respectively, will soon he in frame. The. builder is G. M. Cochrane, Messrs 11. Elderkin and Co., at Port Greville, will build for themselves a 350-ton threemaster during the year. At the same port the Graham yard has plans drawn for a three-master of about 200 tons. At Spencer's Island, a schooner of 4.'!0 tons is expected to he ready for launching early in the coming summer, and a slightly larger vessel of about 400 tons will be launched at the Bcntly yard at Advocate Harbour before fall.
