NAVY SURRENDERED TO THE ALLIES
THE LARGE SHIPS AND SHORE BATTERIES DISARMED Australian and X.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 13, 0.5 a.m.) LONDON, October 12. The "Morning Post's" Athens correspondent states that the Entente Powers are taking strong measures against the Hellenic Government. Admiral l)n Kournet proceeded to Athens, and in the name o!' the Allies demanded the surrender of the torpedo flotilla and the disarmament of the large ships and shore batteries, and also the transfer of the Pira-us-Larissa railway and the policing of Pirauis harbour and the Salamis arsenal. The Government handed the formal acquiescence to the British Legation. Oilier Athens messages state that the ultimatum was due to (he necessity for securing the safety of the Allies' fleet in view of the activity of pro-German societies in Greece. The forts of which the surrender was required commanded the moorings of the Franco-British fleets.
