"OUR DAY" FUND. A social was held in the Spotswood Hall on Wednesday night to farewell the Troopers Matheson and to raise money for "Our Day Fund." News came through on Wednesday morning that Mr and Mrs Lett had lost their son Tom, killed in action in France on September 21. Before proceedings commenced, Mr F. O. Robinson moved a vote of sympathy and condolence with the relatives of Troopers Lott, Sloss, Wilkinson, and Cooper, and conveyed to those present Mr and Mrs Lott's particular request that thu social should proceed. Mrs Robinson, on behalf of the Red Cross Committee, presented each trooper with a writing wallet. Miss Nelson sang the "Marseillaise" most, effectively.
Mrs Robinson addressed the gathering. She said she had been requested to appeal on behalf of "Our Day" Fund, and she hoped they would give liberally. Spotswood-Parnassus had risen nobly to every call. Before commencing the auctions, Mr Robinson said lie wished to assist his wife in her appeal. Money was urgently needed, and he hod much pleasure in giving £lO to start the fund. The appeal was well responded to, £o.'i '■',/- being taken.
