THE SHARE MARKET. An average number of sales have been reported this week. Advances have been recorded in prices of Bank of .New Zealand,' Standard, and New Zealand -shares. The market generally- is firm, and indications point to a plentiful supply of funds for investment purposes, which should result in an increased demand and better prices. The following is the latest information relating to the stocks mentioned:— Banks.—New Zealand: Sales of the fullypaid issue were reported at £l6 10/-, being an advance of 6d on last week's prices. Further buyers are quoted at £l6 6/-, with no sellers under £l6 12/6. No business has been reported in the partly-paid issue, but buyers offer £lO 5/-, with close sellers at £lO 7/-. National: Buyers continue to quote £5, with no sellers under £5 4/-. Union: Sellers quote*£sl 15/- without buyers.

Gas.—Christchurch: Wellington sellers of the fully-paid issue quote £7 10/-, and local sellers £7 12/6. Gisbome: Buyers quote 32/without sellers. Auckland: A sale was reported at 29/6. There are further buyers at 29/3, with sellers quoting 30/-. Wellington: A sale was reported at £l6 for the

fully-paid issue, with further sellers at the same figure. , . Insurance.—As mentioned in last week's report, stocks under this, heading .sMow a' tendency to harden in price, and in several instances buyers have increased their quotations.
