A train of oj)en trucks and a covered passenger car runs from Taringamotu to "VVaihihi. A nujnbcr of Maoris travelled on the open truck, pakehas travelling in the covered car. Apparently the train ran off the line, as the trucks were overturned, killing a Maori child, and badly injuring its mother, and breaking the legs of two Maori women, and the arm of another. Fortunately the covered van saved the pakehas, who escaped injury.
