ADDINGTON MARKET.

A DOUBLE SALE. Owing to Christmas week the oidintiry weekly sale was held to-day instead oi" Wednesday at Addington, and following the usual practice the sale was a doable one. The boisterous weather Conditions prevailing made matters somewhat unpleasant for the auctioneers and their assistants, who have to be at their posts at an early hour. STOKE SHEEP. The entry,-was about the same as last week —a considerable increase on late galea. The sheep coming forward were chiefly two-tooth wethers, with a few .lines of ewes and the usual miscellaneous lots. At the outset bidding Vas not at all brisk; and the slack values ruling on Wednesday last showed little or no improvement.. As the sale progressed bidding improved, especially for superior lines, and good sheep sold at a slight advance on recent rates. A pen of ? well finished two-tooth ewes just off , 4lie shears mad# 18/11, and a good line ; of well-grown twortooth wethers %ent to ' 16/1. There were a good many lines of two-tooth wethers went over 15/-. Several lines of two-tooth ewes early in the sale failed to realise the expectations of vendors. Valiies were as under: WETHEBS. FAT LAMBS. There was another' big entry in fat lambs, 1112 being entered as against 1390. The large entry last week caused several butchers to buy much more than a week's supply of lambs, and consequently the entry figures were not as high as might have been expected for a double market at Christmas time. The pale opened at figures slightly improved upon the rates of last week. Generally the quality was of a high average. FAT SHEEP. There were fewer fat sheep yarded to-day as compared with last week's sale, when the entry was much above normal requirements. The quality was generally satisfactory, though there were rather more ewes than wethers. The sale opened at satisfactory rates. FAT CATTLE. The entry of fat cattle was a representative one, though hardly up to the figures of a double market. Values were particularly firm at late rates. Pyne and Co. sold: On account
