f Two male first offenders for drunkenness in High Street and Colombo Street, were each fined 5/-. Chas.- Russell, 88 years of age, was convicted of a third offence of drunkenness in Manchester Street. He was sentenced to fourteen days' hard labour. *

He was further charged with being a rogue and a vagabond, having insufficient lawful means of support, having been previously convicted as an idle and disorderly person. Accused said he supposed he must plead guilty, but he only came to town last Friday evening from shearing . at Waiau. He had £4 or £5 with him then.

The senior-sergeant said accused hart a very bad record, and lie had mot lef A town when he had been warned to so.

Accused was convicted, and I warned to leave the town, otherwise hfe would be brought before the Court again and dealt with.

CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default in each of the fallowing cases: —Jane de Renzi, executrix of the estate of A. C. de Renzi, v.-John Paul Howard, £ls 18/-; L. W. Balliind v. John H. Cairns, .6/4; same v. Percy Charles Sydney Fellowes, £1 15/-; F. W. Collins v. Henry Gindler, £6r costs only.

FALSE PRETENCE. ; Horace Drain, 22 years of age, was charged before Messrs W. Barnett and T. E. Fraser, J.P.'s, with obtaining 5/from Gertrude Cook at East Oxford on October 23 by a false pretence.

It was explained that the money had been returned, and accused, who pleaded guilty, was convicted and discharged.
