Prince Nicholas of Russia, owing to the Polish Sokpls' disloyalty, has ordered them to be treated as criminals under the Military Law. IN THE COMMONWEALTH/ N.S.W. FIRST CONTINGENT READY THOUSANDS IDLE THROUGH THE WAR. (Received September 1, 9.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 1. The Hon. Mr Cann estimates that there are 13,000 men rendered idle in New South Wales owing to the war, besides many working half time. He is arranging to absorb them .in public, works. Recruiting proceeds unabated, and the New South Wales First Contingent is practically complete.
