BRIDGE IN FLAMES
DARING ATTEMPT TO BURN PAPAMOA STRUCTURE POLICE INVESTIGATING Special to THE SUN TAURANGA, Today. An attempt was made last evening to burn a bridge on the Tauranga-Te Puke highway at Papamoa. A man residing in the vicinity of the bridge declares that he saw a motor-car stop nearby. It travelled on shortly after and the bridge became enveloped in flames. Kerosene and kindling wood were used to start the fire. Difficulty was experienced in subduing the fire, though men arrived on the scene quickly. The piles were considerably charred. The police are investigating.
