NO SUBSIDY YET
WELLINGTON TO AUCKLAND AIR SERVICE MINISTER IS SCEPTICAL There is little hope of a commercial #ur service between Auckland and "Wellington being subsidised at present by the Government. This is the opinion of the Hon. J. B. Donald, Postmaster-General. He states that air services in New Zealand should be proved successful before the question of a Government subsidy could be considered. He thought that an air service be*tween Auckland and Christchurch or Auckland and Dunedin might be a different matter, but the Government would require definite proof that the company which undertook the service would b© capable of managing it.
The Minister is of the opinion that air lines might first be established and if they proved satisfactory the companies controlling them could approach the Government for a subsidy.
