“THE AMERICAN PRISONER” The management of the London Theatre announce that commencing today they have secured the latest British aII-talking picture, “The American Prisoner,” Cinema Art Films’ new est release. In so doing the management has adhered to its policy of presenting only British pictures, and since the first British talkie was released, unlimited fan letters have been forwarded from all quarters tendering congratulations on showing English all-dialogue films. The picture deals with the turbulent days of tlio early 18th century, when England was at war with Napoleon. Exciting times were witnessed when enemy merchantmen were captured for • gun-running,” and were imprisoned at Dartmoor. As ‘’Lieutenant Stark.” Carl Brisson, now a world favourite, lias a dashing role, and is supported by Madeleine Carroll, a delightful British star. Their voices record perfectly, both speaking and singing flawlessly. Miss Nancy Price, a character actress of renown, gives a remrkable interpretation of an “old hag,” and A. Bromley Davenport, as the “Squire,” has a role that is polished and cultured. Another splendidly entertaining supporting programme will also be shown.
