TUNNEL WORK HELD UP

DISPUTE WITH P.W.D. EAST COAST RAILWAY Press Association NAPIER, Friday. Work on the -Kotemaori Tunnel, on the East Coast railway line, about 30 miles from Napier, is held up through a dispute between the tunnellers at the north end and the Public Works Department, It is stated that the trouble has been caused through the employment of a man who was once injured on railway construction work and who was paid compensation by the department. Pumping 1 operations have ceased and the tunnel is said to be in danger of flooding unless the trouble is soon settled. The resident engineer of the department at Napier has declined to discuss the matter.
