WAIPA HOCKEY
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION FIRST ROUND DRAW Press Association TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. Mr. C. A. Finch presided at thg seventh, annual meeting of the Wain* Hockey Association this evening. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. C. G. Downes; president Mr. G. O. Jourdain; vice-president*, Messrs. C. Davis, C. J. Spiers. C. Finch, sen., J. T. North and A. A. Ree?e: secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. A. Finch; auditor, Mr. W. J. McGivem; delegate to Auckland Hockey Association, Mr, W. Newsham (re-elected); ground* committe, Messrs. C. J. Spiers, C. Davis and O. Finch: delegate to Waikato Association, Mr. F. Craig; selectors, Messrs. C. J. Spiers, C. A. Finch and C. Davis. It was decided to commence the competitions for the Empson Cup on Wednesday, May 21. The draw for the first round was 4 follows: May 21.—Paterangi A v. Paterangi B, at Paterangi; Ramblers v. Waralah, ai Albert Park. May 28.—Paterangi A v. Rambler*, at Paterangi: Paterangi B v. "Waratah. 4 Te Awamutu. June 4.—Paterangi A v. Warn tab, at Albert Park; Paterangi B v Ramblers, at Paterangi. The secretary of the Rodney association forwarded a cordial mvitaUoa lor the Waipa representatives and supporters to visit W ark worth on June J. Waipa was also asked to extend the invitation to the* Waipa Women’s Afsociation, in the hope that a womens team could also make the trip. After discussion it was decided to accept the invitation, and to leave T* Awamutu on the Tuesday morning, travelling right through, play early ia the afternoon, and if need be, retun home that night.
