REWA TO GO

NO BUYERS OFFERING VESSEL TO BE DISMANTLED As efforts to sell the barque Rewa have been unsuccessful it has now been decided to dismantle the vessel and remove her from the stream as soon as possible. The Rewa is the largest British sailing ship now afloat. To the collection of old ships’ figureheads preserved in the Naval Yard at Devonport will be added the figurehead of the Rewa. It is a female figure, clothed in flowing robes. If. has been carved from a single block of wood. In proportion to the great size of the vessel, the figure is nearly twice life-size and therefore does not show the fine workmanship of smaller models. It is, however, a very imposing monument to the skill of the old wood-carvers.
