FIFTY CIVILIANS KILLED IN BOMB RAID SMALL SCALE FIGHTS FOLLOW Reed. 10.10 a.m. SHANGHAI, Monday. The northern rebel coalition claims it has annihilated a division of Nanking troops. The latter denies defeat, and declares the main armies have not yet clashed. Peking papers report that Cheng Chow was heavily bombed, and 50 civilians were killed, and 100 houses demolished, by Government airplanes. Fighting on a small scale is occurring in the provinces of Honan, Anhwei, and Shantung. # The situation is regarded as serious, though the Government is confident of ultimate victory.
