OBJECTION TO POSTERS
PROTEST FROM DEVONPORT SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S CONCERN The Devonport District School Committee is much concerned about some of the posters exhibited in Devonport for advertising theatre programmes. At the last meeting of the committee it was resolved that the Devonport Borough Council be approached to have pressure brought on theatre owners to refrain from exhibiting posters likely to have a detrimental influence on the school children, a great number of whom pass the posters on their way to and from school. The chairman of the committee, Mr. J. W. Parker, said the committee did not consist of prudes nor was it narrow in its views, but some of the pictures placarded about the streets were decidedly suggestive and quite unsuited for the attention of juveniles.
