“DISRAELI” FOR ST. JAMES
Disraeli surrounded by spies, Disraeli temporarily thwarted in his plans for England's expansion, Disraeli the matchmaker, Disraeli the loving husband, and Disraeli the successful Prime Minister, is the Disraeli around whom Warner Bros, and Vitaphone have woven their special production, “Disraeli.” featuring that notable actor, George Arliss, in the title role. Arliss —or perhaps we should say Arliss as that super-statesman —the Jew of Italian descent, rules the picture. His every scene is interesting—his every mannerism charming—even in his most sardonic moments. The supporting cast is a brilliant one, being composed entirely of stage actors and actresses —Florence Arliss, David Torrance, Anthony Bushell and Joan Bennett.
“Queen High,” a screen musical comedy, will shortly go into production at the Paramount studios. Charles Rugg!es, Frank Morgan and Ginger Rogers have been selected for leading roles in the picture.
Gloria Swanson’s nexttpicture, “What a Widow,” will be directed by Alan Dwan, who produced “The Trespasser” for United Artists. He will direct also, Owen Moore and lan Keith, who have supporting roles in Miss Swanson’s new talking and singing films, _
