NEXT WEEK’S CONCERT VARIED PROGRAMME A varied and interesting programme has been arranged by the Bohemian Orchestra for its first concert of the 3 7th season to be given at the Town Hall on Thursday week. One of the principal items will be Beethoven’s “Concerto for violin and orchestra in V.” the solo to be played by the English violinist. Mr John Dunn. This will be the last opportunity of hearing Mr. Dunn, as he is leaving Auckland shortly. Orchestral numbers will be “Orpheus in the Underworld” (Offenbach), "Italian” Symphony (Mendelssohn), “Polonaise No. 2” (Liszt), “Invitation to The Waltz” (Weber-Wein-gartner), “Irish Tune from County Derry” (Percy Grainger). “Bird Scene, from “Haiwatha” (Coleridge Taylor), ■ Cleopatra” (Mancinelli), and “Jerusalem” (Parry). Mr. Frank Sutherland will be the vocalist, his numbers being Gounod's "She Alone Charmeth My Sadness" and “Out Where the Big Ships Go” (Hewitt).
