WORLD’S WHEAT HARVEST
DECREASE IN THE YIELD United P.A.—Eg Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON; Saturday. The Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. A M. Hyde, has issued his annual report. It states that allhough the present season’s wheat crop is considerably smaller than that of 1928. it may return growers a larger income since the prices are substantially higher so far this season than they were in the corresponding period of the previous season. The report goes on to say:—“The reduction of our wheat output is set off by the increased carry-over from the previous season. The income from wheat depends upon the world situation. The world’s wheat production, outside of China and Russia, for 1929, is estimated at approximately 3,400.000,000 bushels, or 500,000,000 bushels less than in 1928. The indicated reduction has raised the worldprice level.’’ The delegate from the Chicago Farmers’ National Grain Corporation tool? his seat on the Chicago Board of Trade and began operations in the grain marketing programme. Its officers and the Federal Farm Board members say the operations will eventually exceed tlia’; of any other single agency in the country.
