GREAT TREK OF DEER

3,000 TO BE DRIVEN INTO FAR NORTH CANADIAN PURCHASE Reed. 9.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Sunday. One of the greatest treks of animals in Canadian history began in the Far North, where 3,000 reindeer purchased by the Dominion Government from a firm in Alaska were started from Elephant Point on a 1,500-miie pilgrimage across to the Mackenzie River delta. They will not get there till the early spring of 1931. The Government bought the herd for £39,000, and the contractors are attending to the delivery. The deer are to furnish food and clothing for the natives of Canada’s farthest north.
