DEAD IN EMPTY HOUSE
WORRIED OVER DOMESTIC TROUBLES VERDICT OF SUICIDE Following an unsuccessful attempt to smooth over differences which had risen between his wife and him, Bert Russell Fielder was found dead in his empty house at 109 College Hill yesterday. An inquest was held before Mr. P. K Hunt, S.M., coroner, this morning, when a verdict of suicide by gas nolsoning was returned. The body was identified by Arthur ■William Fielder, a brother, who said diat deceased was aged 29, and had been employed as a bus driver by the Auckland Transport Board Last week he had separated from his wife and was worrying over domestic troubles. ter selling his household effects iast week he had come to live with bis mother. Yesterday he had left home to make an attempt to make it up with his wife. Dr. 1,. 11. Drury was of the opinion that the man had been dead about half an hour w len he was called to the house shortly after the discovery of the tragedy by the police at 2.30 in the afternoon. The body was cold, and death was due to gas poisoning. Letters were put in, one indicating deceased’s intention to commit suicide on account of his domestic worries. and the other leaving all his property to his mother.
