NEW VITAPHONE FEATURE COMING BRIGHT TABLOID SHOWS Vitaphone’s one-reel music, dance and comedy productions will be known henceforth as the “Vitaphone Varieties.” The -wide range of these short subjects. including virtually every style in the entertainment field, has
prompted executives to adopt the general descriptive title for the short reel product. These tabloid features occupy approximately the same relation to the movie-house entertainment as vaudeville in the legitimate field. Several hundred Vitaphone Varieties are included in the list for the coming season. Among them are playlets, dramatic sketches and comedies: light operettas and one-reel "personality” features employing wellknown stage performers. Colour photography plays an Important part in the programme. Of a contemplated series of Technicolour productions, two have been completed featuring Roberto Guzman, the Mexican tenor; two more in production are “Night Club Baby,” starring Ann Pennington, and “Dance of the Paper Dolls” with Geneva Mitchell.
